Faith That Rests

“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.”
Rest is not inactivity. God rested on the seventh day not because He was tired but because the work was complete. Entering His rest means ceasing from the works by which you try to secure what has already been given.
Faith is active — it speaks, it obeys, it moves. But faith is never anxious. Galatians 5:6 says faith works through love, and 1 John 4:18 says perfect love drives out fear. Fear-driven effort is not faith, however religious it looks.
Striving asks, “Have I done enough?” Faith asks, “What has He already done?”
Jesus invited the weary to come to Him and find rest for their souls (Matthew 11:28-30). His yoke is easy, not because there is no work, but because you are no longer pulling alone and no longer pulling for approval.
Confession
I have entered God's rest. I work from acceptance, not for it. My faith rests in the finished work of Jesus and it is active in love.
Prayer
Father, thank you for the rest you have provided in Christ. I lay down striving and I take up faith. Let my work today flow from peace and from love, not from fear or the need to prove myself, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
