The Helper Within

“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses…”
To the believer, Acts 1:8 is not a distant promise but a present reality. The Holy Spirit in you means ability in you — divine capacity to affect change and produce results.
Jesus called Him the Helper, the Paraclete: the one called alongside. Not a vague influence, not an impersonal force, but a Person who teaches, reminds, comforts, convicts and leads.
Stop asking for what you already have
Much of our praying is a request for something already given. Ephesians 1:19-20 says the same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work toward us who believe. You do not need more power; you need more awareness of the power you have.
The Spirit's power works through your acknowledgement and your proclamation.
Speak to Him today. Thank Him for His presence. Ask Him to make you sensitive to His leading in the ordinary decisions, not just the dramatic ones — because that is where most of life is lived.
Confession
The Holy Spirit lives in me. I am not helpless. I am led, taught and empowered by the Spirit of God today.
Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit who lives in me. I acknowledge His presence and I welcome His leading. Make me sensitive to your voice today, and let your power flow through my words and my work, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
