A Covenant Moment
Child Dedication.
Present your child before the Lord — a moment of prayer, blessing and covenant with the REIGN Church family.
From the very first pages of Scripture, God has placed children into the arms of families as a gift and a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3). A Child Dedication is the beautiful, biblical moment where you — as parents — publicly give your child back to the God who gave them to you.
It is not the child's salvation. It is your covenant. A promise before Heaven and before God's people that you will raise this child in the ways of the Lord, teach them His Word, model His love, and pray them into their God-given destiny.
At REIGN Church we simply follow the pattern Jesus Himself set: "He took the children in His arms, placed His hands on them and blessed them." (Mark 10:16).
From Scripture
What the Bible says about dedicating our children.
1 Samuel 1:27-28
"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord."
Luke 2:22-24
"Joseph and Mary took Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord." — Mary and Joseph dedicated Jesus in the temple.
Mark 10:13-16
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
Deuteronomy 6:6-7
"These commandments... are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road."
Psalm 127:3
"Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him."
Proverbs 22:6
"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

Questions
Frequently asked questions.
What is a child dedication?
A child dedication is a public act where parents (and often the wider family) present their child before the Lord and the local church, committing to raise them in the ways of Jesus. It is a covenant moment — not a salvation event — where mom and dad ask God for grace, wisdom and protection over their child's life.
Is child dedication the same as baptism?
No. Baptism in Scripture is by full immersion and follows a personal decision to follow Jesus (Acts 8:36-38). Dedication is the parents' commitment and prayer over a child who cannot yet believe for themselves. When your child is old enough to place their own faith in Jesus, we would love to baptise them.
Where is child dedication in the Bible?
Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:27-28). Mary and Joseph presented Jesus in the temple (Luke 2:22-24). Jesus took the little ones in His arms, laid hands on them and blessed them (Mark 10:13-16). We follow the same beautiful biblical pattern.
Who can be dedicated?
Any baby or child of any age. Many families dedicate newborns, but if your child is older, they are just as welcome. Parents do not need to be members of REIGN Church, but we do ask that at least one parent be a born-again believer walking with Jesus.
What happens on the day?
During a Sunday service the family is invited on stage. Pastor Ian will read Scripture over your child, pray a blessing, and the congregation will stand with you in agreement. You will also receive a personalised Child Dedication Certificate and a small keepsake gift.
What do we need to bring or wear?
Come as you are — smart casual is perfect. Bring any close family or friends you would like to stand with you. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early so we can meet the family and go through the flow.
